- English(1) There shall be an Electoral Commission which shall perform the functions conferred upon it by this Constitution any other law.
(2) Subject to this Constitution the Electoral Commission shall not, in the performance of its functions, be subject to the direction or control of any person or authority. (Art. 115)

- EnglishThe Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has the following functions—
(a) to prepare for, conduct and supervise—
(i) elections to the office of President and to Parliament;
(ii) elections to provincial and metropolitan councils and the governing bodies of local authorities;
(iii) elections of members of the National Council of Chiefs established by section 285; and
(iv) referendums;
and to ensure that those elections and referendums are conducted efficiently, freely, fairly, transparently and in accordance with the law;
(b) to supervise elections of the President of the Senate and the Speaker and to ensure that those elections are conducted efficiently and in accordance with the law;
(c) to register voters;
(d) to compile voters’ rolls and registers;
(e) to ensure the proper custody and maintenance of voters’ rolls and registers;
(f) to delimit constituencies, wards and other electoral boundaries;
(g) to design, print and distribute ballot papers, approve the form of and procure ballot boxes, and establish and operate polling centres;
(h) to conduct and supervise voter education;
(i) to accredit observers of elections and referendums;
(j) to give instructions to persons in the employment of the State or of a local authority for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, free, fair, proper and transparent conduct of any election or referendum; and
(k) to receive and consider complaints from the public and to take such action in regard to the complaints as it considers appropriate. (Sec. 239)

- EnglishThe National Electoral Council is the permanent organ of the State with the fundamental mission of organizing, directing, and supervising the elections, popular consultations, plebiscites, and referendums that are convened.
It handles and responds to the complaints that are lodged with regard to elections and performs the other functions recognized by the Constitution and the laws.
The National Electoral Council guarantees the veracity, transparency, efficiency, publicity, authenticity, and impartiality of the processes of democratic participation. The Supreme Electoral Council has the following attributions:

The elected Members of the Storting shall be furnished with credentials. The Storting decides whether the credentials are valid.
All those who have put up lists in elections to the Storting may appeal against the Storting’s decision. Specific provisions concerning the right of appeal and grounds for appeal shall be laid down by law. The Supreme Court makes the final decision on appeals.
If the Storting, the Supreme Court or the National Electoral Committee declares the election invalid, the elected Members of the Storting will remain in office until a new election has been finally approved. (Art. 64) - Norwegian
De valgte representantene får tildelt fullmakter. Stortinget avgjør om fullmaktene er lovlige.
Alle som har stilt liste ved stortingsvalget, kan klage på Stortingets avgjørelse. Nærmere bestemmelser om klagerett og klagegrunner fastsettes ved lov. Høyesterett avgjør klagene.
Hvis Stortinget, Høyesterett eller riksvalgstyret kjenner valget ugyldig, blir de valgte representantene sittende i vervet inntil et omvalg er endelig godkjent. (§ 64)
