- EnglishThe President of the Republic chooses a Prime Minister from among the members of the Party having the absolute majority in the Parliament. The majority is established on the basis of the electoral results of those elected in each of the two Chambers. In default of this majority, the President of the Republic chooses the Prime Minister in consultation with the President of the Senate and that of the Chamber of Deputies. (Art. 137)

- EnglishThe Parliament elects the Prime Minister, who is thereafter appointed to the office by the President of the Republic. The President appoints the other Ministers in accordance with a proposal made by the Prime Minister.
Before the Prime Minister is elected, the groups represented in the Parliament negotiate on the political programme and composition of the Government. On the basis of the outcome of these negotiations, and after having heard the Speaker of the Parliament and the parliamentary groups, the President informs the Parliament of the nominee for Prime Minister. The nominee is elected Prime Minister if his or her election has been supported by more than half of the votes cast in an open vote in the Parliament.

Innan statsministern väljs förhandlar riksdagsgrupperna om regeringsprogrammet och statsrådets sammansättning. Utifrån resultatet av dessa överläggningar meddelar presidenten efter att ha hört riksdagens talman vem som är statsministerkandidat. Om kandidaten vid öppen omröstning i riksdagen har fått mer än hälften av de avgivna rösterna, väljs han eller hon till statsminister.

- English(1) There shall be a Prime Minister of Saint Vincent who shall be appointed by the Governor-General.
(2) Whenever the Governor-General has occasion to appoint a Prime Minister he shall appoint a Representative who appears to him likely to command the support of the majority of the Representatives.
(3) There shall be, in addition to the office of Prime Minister, such officers of Minister of the Government as may be established by Parliament or, subject to the provisions of any law enacted by Parliament, by the Governor-General, casting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister.
(4) Appointments to the office of Minister, other than the office of Prime Minister, shall be made by the Governor-General, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, from among the members of the House:
Provided that not more than two Ministers shall be appointed from among the Senators.
