- EnglishAll persons have the right and duty to work. The State guarantees the adoption of the necessary measures so that every person shall be able to obtain productive work providing him or her with a dignified and decorous living and guarantee him or her the full exercise of this right. It is an objective of the State to promote employment. Measures tending to guarantee the exercise of the labor rights of self employed persons shall be adopted by law. Freedom to work shall be subject only to such restrictions as may be established by law.
Every employer shall guarantee employees adequate safety, hygienic and environmental conditions on the job. The State shall adopt measures and create institutions such as to make it possible to control and promote these conditions. El Estado garantizará la adopción de las medidas necesarias a los fines de que toda persona pueda obtener ocupación productiva, que le proporcione una existencia digna y decorosa y le garantice el pleno ejercicio de este derecho. The following shall be regulated by law: labor relations related to contracts and collective agreements; general sector minimum wages and salary increases; reincorporation; paid vacations and holidays; calculation of seniority, the work day, extra hours, night time overtime, Sunday work; Christmas bonuses, vouchers, bonuses and other systems of participation in the profits of the enterprise; indemnification and severance pay; maternity leave; professional training and formation; and other social rights.

La ley regulará las relaciones laborales relativas a contratos y convenios colectivos; salarios mínimos generales, sectoriales e incrementos salariales; reincorporación; descansos remunerados y feriados; cómputo de antigüedad, jornada laboral, horas extra, recargo nocturno, dominicales; aguinaldos, bonos, primas u otros sistemas de participación en las utilidades de la empresa; indemnizaciones y desahucios; maternidad laboral; capacitación y formación profesional, y otros derechos sociales.

The ordinary day of work is of eight hours or forty-eight hours weekly, at the longest. In the case of cumulative or atypical workdays, the average number of hours worked in the corresponding period may not exceed that maximum.
