- EnglishThe political parties and movements, in their functioning, may not:
1. receive economic aid [auxilio], directions or instructions from foreign organizations or States;
2. establish structures which, directly or indirectly, imply the use of, or a call for, violence as [a] methodology of the political activity [quehacer], and
3. constitute themselves with the goals [fines] of substituting by the force the regime of freedom and democracy, or of endangering the existence of the Republic. (Art. 126) - SpanishLos partidos y los movimientos políticos, en su funcionamiento, no podrán:

- EnglishIn these elections, political organizations and alliances participating in the election of Assembly persons shall be entitled to submit candidacies.
Other political organizations are also entitled to submit candidacies, for which purpose they must show support based on a list of signatures accounting for one percent (1%) of the citizens on the corresponding voter registration list. To this end, the National Electoral Council shall provide the necessary forms.
The mum-persons candidacies shall be submitted in complete slates with principal candidates and their respective alternates. The slates shall be established in an egalitarian fashion with a sequence of woman, man or man, woman until the total number of candidates has been completed. The political system is pluralist and expresses itself through the political parties, which are the only instrument for the exercise of the representation of the People within the Government. The norms, [the] organization and [the] functioning will be subject to the principles of [a] representative democracy.

11. The State shall secure the broadest freedom for the political parties. Without prejudice to the former, the parties shall:
a. effectively exercise internal democracy in the election of their authorities; [and,]

The renewal of the Legislative and Executive powers will be realized by way of free, authentic and periodic elections, in accordance with the following bases:
I. The political parties are entities of public interest; the law will determine the norms and requirements for their legal registration, the specific forms of their participation [intervención] in the electoral process and the rights, obligations and prerogatives that correspond to them. In the nomination [postulación] of their candidatures, the principle of parity of gender will be observed.
The political parties have as [their] objective to promote the participation of the people in the democratic life, to promote the principle of parity of gender, to contribute to the integration of the organs of political representation and as citizen organizations, to make possible the access of them to the exercise of public power, in accordance with the programs, principles and ideas they postulate and by way of universal, free, secret and direct suffrage, as well as the regulations that the electoral law specifies [marque] to guarantee the parity of gender, in candidatures to the different offices of popular election. La renovación de los poderes Legislativo y Ejecutivo se realizará mediante elecciones libres, auténticas y periódicas, conforme a las siguientes bases:
I. Los partidos políticos son entidades de interés público; la ley determinará las normas y requisitos para su registro legal, las formas específicas de su intervención en el proceso electoral y los derechos, obligaciones y prerrogativas que les corresponden. - EnglishThe organization of parties, groups and political movements is free and subject to the principles established in this Constitution. Their conformation and functioning should support themselves in respect for internal democracy and transparency, in accordance with the law. Its essential purposes are:
1. To guarantee the participation of male and female citizens in the political processes that contribute to the strengthening of democracy.
2. To contribute in equality of conditions, to the formation and manifestation of the citizen will, respecting political pluralism through the proposal of candidate lists to offices of popular election.
3. To serve the national interest, the collective well-being and the complete development of Dominican society. (Art. 216) - SpanishLa organización de partidos, agrupaciones y movimientos políticos es libre, con sujeción a los principios establecidos en esta Constitución. Su conformación y funcionamiento deben sustentarse en el respeto a la democracia interna y a la transparencia, de conformidad con la ley. Sus fines esenciales son:
1) Garantizar la participación de ciudadanos y ciudadanas en los procesos políticos que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de la democracia;

- EnglishPolitical parties express political pluralism, contribute to the formation and manifestation of the popular will, and are fundamental instruments of political participation, without prejudice to the freedom of electoral nomination in the form prescribed by this Constitution and by law. The internal structure and the functioning of political parties shall be based on democratic principles.
The law shall regulate the registration and the continued existence of political parties but in no case may provide that the minimum number of votes required for survival is higher than five percent (5%) of the valid votes cast in elections for President, members of the National Assembly, Mayors or Precinct Representatives, whichever is the vote in which the party concerned has been most successful. (Art. 138) - SpanishLos partidos políticos expresan el pluralismo político, concurren a la formación y manifestación de la voluntad popular y son instrumentos fundamentales para la participación política, sin perjuicio de la postulación libre en la forma prevista en esta Constitución y la Ley. - EnglishPolitical parties and movements shall be funded by membership dues paid by their members and followers, and as long as they meet the requirements stipulated by law, the political parties shall receive State allocations subject to monitoring.
The political movement that, on two successive multi-person elections, obtains at least five percent (5%) of all valid votes nationwide, shall acquire the same rights and must meet the same obligations as political parties.
