- EnglishPolitical parties are the expression of political pluralism, they contribute to the formation and expression of the will of the people and are an essential instrument for political participation. Their creation and the exercise of their activities are free in so far as they respect the Constitution and the law. Their internal structure and their functioning must be democratic. (Sec. 6)

- EnglishIn these elections, political organizations and alliances participating in the election of Assembly persons shall be entitled to submit candidacies.
Other political organizations are also entitled to submit candidacies, for which purpose they must show support based on a list of signatures accounting for one percent (1%) of the citizens on the corresponding voter registration list. To this end, the National Electoral Council shall provide the necessary forms.
The mum-persons candidacies shall be submitted in complete slates with principal candidates and their respective alternates. The slates shall be established in an egalitarian fashion with a sequence of woman, man or man, woman until the total number of candidates has been completed. Podrán también hacerlo otras organizaciones políticas, para lo cual deberán presentar el uno por ciento (1%) de firmas de adhesión de los ciudadanos y ciudadanas del correspondiente registro electoral. Al efecto, el Consejo Nacional Electoral entregará los formularios necesarios.
Las candidaturas pluripersonales se presentarán en listas completas con candidatos principales y sus respectivos suplentes. Las listas se conformarán paritariamente con secuencia de mujer, hombre u hombre, mujer hasta completar el total de candidaturas. (Régimen De Transición, Art. 4)

The political system is pluralist and expresses itself through the political parties, which are the only instrument for the exercise of the representation of the People within the Government. - EnglishThe organization of parties, groups and political movements is free and subject to the principles established in this Constitution. Their conformation and functioning should support themselves in respect for internal democracy and transparency, in accordance with the law. Its essential purposes are:
1. To guarantee the participation of male and female citizens in the political processes that contribute to the strengthening of democracy.
2. To contribute in equality of conditions, to the formation and manifestation of the citizen will, respecting political pluralism through the proposal of candidate lists to offices of popular election.
3. To serve the national interest, the collective well-being and the complete development of Dominican society. (Art. 216) - SpanishLa organización de partidos, agrupaciones y movimientos políticos es libre, con sujeción a los principios establecidos en esta Constitución. Su conformación y funcionamiento deben sustentarse en el respeto a la democracia interna y a la transparencia, de conformidad con la ley. Sus fines esenciales son:
1) Garantizar la participación de ciudadanos y ciudadanas en los procesos políticos que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de la democracia;
2) Contribuir, en igualdad de condiciones, a la formación y manifestación de la voluntad ciudadana, respetando el pluralismo político mediante la propuesta de candidaturas a los cargos de elección popular;
3) Servir al interés nacional, al bienestar colectivo y al desarrollo integral de la sociedad dominicana. (Art. 216)

- EnglishPolitical parties and movements shall be funded by membership dues paid by their members and followers, and as long as they meet the requirements stipulated by law, the political parties shall receive State allocations subject to monitoring.
The political movement that, on two successive multi-person elections, obtains at least five percent (5%) of all valid votes nationwide, shall acquire the same rights and must meet the same obligations as political parties.
