Citizenship and Nationality
- EnglishA person is a Cuban citizen through naturalization if:
a. They are a foreigner that acquires citizenship according to the provisions of the law.
b. Having been arbitrarily deprived of their citizenship in their country of origin, they obtain Cuban citizenship at the discretion of the President of the Republic. (Art. 35) - SpanishSon ciudadanos cubanos por naturalización:

Ecuadorian nationality is a political and legal bond between individuals and the State, without detriment to their belonging to any of the other indigenous nations that coexist in plurinational Ecuador.

Legal citizenship is lost by any other form of subsequent naturalization. Education
- EnglishEducation is a human right and a fundamental social duty; it is democratic, free of charge and obligatory. The State assumes responsibility for it as an irrevocable function of the greatest interest, at all levels and in all modes, as an instrument of scientific, humanistic and technical knowledge at the service of society. Education, is a public service, and is grounded on the respect for all currents of thought, to the end of developing the creative potential of every human being and the full exercise of his or her personality in a democratic society based on the work ethic value and on active, conscious and joint participation in the processes of social transformation embodied in the values which are part of the national identity, and with a Latin American and universal vision. The State, with the participation of families and society, promotes the process of civic education in accordance with the principles contained in this Constitution and in the laws. (Art. 102)
- SpanishLa educación es un derecho humano y un deber social fundamental, es democrática, gratuita y obligatoria. El Estado la asumirá como función indeclinable y de máximo interés en todos sus niveles y modalidades, y como instrumento del conocimiento científico, humanístico y tecnológico al servicio de la sociedad. La educación es un servicio público y está fundamentada en el respeto a todas las corrientes del pensamiento, con la finalidad de desarrollar el potencial creativo de cada ser humano y el pleno ejercicio de su personalidad en una sociedad democrática basada en la valoración ética del trabajo y en la participación activa, consciente y solidaria en los procesos de transformación social consustanciados con los valores de la identidad nacional, y con una visión latinoamericana y universal. El Estado, con la participación de las familias y la sociedad, promoverá el proceso de educación ciudadana de acuerdo con los principios contenidos de esta Constitución y en la ley. (Art. 102)
Education
- EnglishThe education has the following purposes: to achieve the integral development of the personality in its spiritual, moral and social dimension; to contribute to the construction of a democratic society that is more prosperous, just and humane; to inculcate the respect for the human rights and the observance of the corresponding duties; to combat all spirit of intolerance and of hate; to take cognizance of the national reality and to identify [oneself] with values of the Salvadoran nationality; and to favor the unity of the People [pueblo] of Central America.
The parents will have the preferential right to choose the education of their children. (Art. 55) - SpanishLa educación tiene los siguientes fines: lograr el desarrollo integral de la personalidad en su dimensión espiritual, moral y social; contribuir a la construcción de una sociedad democrática más próspera, justa y humana; inculcar el respeto a los derechos humanos y la observancia de los correspondientes deberes; combatir todo espíritu de intolerancia y de odio; conocer la realidad nacional e identificarse con los valores de la nacionalidad salvadoreña; y propiciar la unidad del pueblo centroamericano.
Los padres tendrán derecho preferente a escoger la educación de sus hijos. (Art. 55)
