- EnglishEducation is a right of all people and the responsibility of the State, which guarantees free, accessible, and quality education services to its citizens for their holistic development, from preschool until the postgraduate level.
The State, in order to effectuate this right, establishes a broad system of educational institutions of all types and education levels, which allows the possibility of attending school during any stage of life according to one's aptitudes and the country's social demands and socioeconomic development needs.
Society and families have the responsibility of education.
The law defines the scope of the obligatory nature of attending school; the basic general preparation that must be minimally acquired; the education of adults and those whose postgraduate or other complementary studies may extraordinarily be remunerated. (Art. 73) - SpanishLa educación es un derecho de todas las personas y responsabilidad del Estado, que garantiza servicios de educación gratuitos, asequibles y de calidad para la formación integral, desde la primera infancia hasta la enseñanza universitaria de posgrado.
El Estado, para hacer efectivo este derecho, establece un amplio sistema de instituciones educacionales en todos los tipos y niveles educativos, que brinda la posibilidad de estudiar en cualquier etapa de la vida de acuerdo a las aptitudes, las exigencias sociales y a las necesidades del desarrollo económico-social del país.
En la educación tienen responsabilidad la sociedad y las familias.
La ley define el alcance de la obligatoriedad de estudiar, la preparación general básica que, como mínimo, debe adquirirse; la educación de las personas adultas y aquellos estudios de posgrado u otros complementarios que excepcionalmente pueden ser remunerados. (Art. 73)

The system shall have as its core focus the learning subject and shall function flexibly and dynamically, with an inclusive, efficient and effective approach.
The national education system shall incorporate an intercultural vision in line with the country's geographical, cultural, and linguistic diversity and respect for the rights of the communities, peoples and nations. The access to education [educación] is free and equal for all Nicaraguans. Primary education [enseñanza] is gratuitous and obligatory in the centers of the State. Secondary education [enseianza] is gratuitous in the centers of the State, without prejudice to the voluntary contributions which parents may make. No one may be excluded in any form from a state center for economic reasons. The indigenous peoples and the ethnic communities of the Caribbean Coast have right in their region to intercultural education [educación] in their mother tongue, in accordance with the law. El acceso a la educación es libre e igual para todos los nicaragüenses. La enseñanza primaria es gratuita y obligatoria en los centros del Estado. La enseñanza secundaria es gratuita en los centros del Estado, sin perjuicio de las contribuciones voluntarias que puedan hacer los padres de familia.
Nadie podrá ser excluido en ninguna forma de un centro estatal por razones económicas. Los pueblos indígenas y las comunidades étnicas de la Costa Caribe tienen derecho en su región a la educación intercultural en su lengua materna, de acuerdo a la ley. (Art. 121)
