- EnglishOfficial education is free at all pre-university levels. Primary level or general basic education is compulsory.
Free education obliges the State to furnish students with all supplies necessary for their instruction until they complete their general basic education.
Free education does not prevent a tuition fee at the noncompulsory level. (Art. 95) - SpanishLa educación oficial es gratuita en todos los niveles pre-universitarios. Es obligatorio el primer nivel de enseñanza o educación básica general.

II. Education is intra-cultural, inter-cultural and multi-lingual throughout the entire educational system.
III. The educational system is based on education that is open, humanistic, scientific, technical and technological, productive, territorial, theoretical and practical, liberating and revolutionary, critical and supportive.

The system shall have as its core focus the learning subject and shall function flexibly and dynamically, with an inclusive, efficient and effective approach.
The national education system shall incorporate an intercultural vision in line with the country's geographical, cultural, and linguistic diversity and respect for the rights of the communities, peoples and nations. El sistema nacional de educación integrará una visión intercultural acorde con la diversidad geográfica, cultural y lingüística del país, y el respeto a los derechos de las comunidades, pueblos y nacionalidades. (Art. 343)

Education is an essential function of the State for the preservation, development, and dissemination of culture, which must extend its benefits to society without discrimination of any kind.
Public education shall be secular and shall be based on fundamental principles of democracy. It shall instill and promote in all students a deep feeling of Honduran patriotism and shall be directly connected with the economic and social development process of the country. (Art. 151) - Spanish
La educación es función esencial del Estado para la conservación, el fomento y difusión de la cultura, la cual deberá proyectar sus beneficios a la sociedad sin discriminación de ninguna naturaleza.
La educación nacional será laica y se fundamentará en los principios esenciales de la democracia, inculcará y fomentará en los educandos profundos sentimientos hondureñistas y deberá vincularse directamente con el proceso de desarrollo económico y social del país. (Art. 151)

- EnglishThe preschool, basic general and diversified education are obligatory and, in the public system, [are] gratuitous and financed [costeada] by the Nation.
For the State education, superior [education] included, the public expenditure will not be inferior to the annual eight percent (8%) of the gross domestic product, in accordance with the law, without prejudice to that established in Articles 84 and 85 of this Constitution.
The State will facilitate the technological access to all the levels of education, as well as the pursuit of superior studies to those without pecuniary resources. The conferral of the scholarships and the aids [auxilios] will be in charge of the Ministry of the branch, through the organ that the law determines.
