Citizenship and Nationality
Eswatini
- English(1) A person born in Eswatini after the commencement of this Constitution is a citizen of Eswatini by birth if at the time of birth the father of that person was a citizen of Eswatini in terms of this Constitution.(2) A person born outside Eswatini after the commencement of this Constitution is a citizen of Eswatini if at the time of birth the father of that person was a citizen of Eswatini in terms of this Constitution.(3) A person born outside Eswatini who becomes a citizen by virtue of subsection (2) shall cease to be a citizen if the father of that person was also born outside Eswatini unless, within one year after attaining the age of majority (or within such extended time as the Board may allow) that person notifies the Board in writing of the desire to retain the citizenship of Eswatini.(4) Where a child born outside of marriage is not adopted by its father or claimed by that father in accordance with Eswatini law and custom and the mother of that child is a citizen of Eswatini, the child shall be a citizen of Eswatini by birth.(5) A child adopted, whether before or after the commencement of this Constitution, under the legislation relating to the adoption of children or under customary law, shall, if not already a citizen, be deemed to be a citizen of Eswatini by birth if, at the time of adoption the adoptive parent was a citizen of Eswatini or would have been a citizen if this Constitution were in force. Mauritius
- English1. Parliament may make provision
a. for the acquisition of citizenship of Mauritius by persons who are not eligible or who are no longer eligible to become citizens of Mauritius by virtue of this Chapter;
b. for depriving of his citizenship of Mauritius any person who is a citizen of Mauritius otherwise than by virtue of section 20, 22 or 233;
c. for the renunciation by any person of his citizenship of Mauritius; or
d. for the maintenance of a register of citizens of Mauritius who are also citizens of other countries. (Sec. 26)

Nigeria
- English(1) Any citizen of Nigeria of full age who wishes to renounce his Nigerian citizenship shall make a declaration in the prescribed manner for the renunciation.
(2) The President shall cause the declaration made under subsection (1) of this section to be registered and upon such registration, the person who made the declaration shall cease to be a citizen of Nigeria.
(3) The President may withhold the registration of any declaration made under subsection (1) of this section if –
(a) the declaration is made during any war in which Nigeria is physically involved; or
(b) in his opinion, it is otherwise contrary to public policy.
(4) For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section –
(a) “full age” means the age of eighteen years and above;
(b) any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age. (Sec. 29)

Somalia
- English(1) The people of the Federal Republic of Somalia are one, indivisible and comprise all the citizens.
(2) There shall be only one Somali citizenship, and the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia shall enact a special law that shall define how to obtain, suspend, or lose it.
(3) A person who is a Somali citizen cannot be deprived of Somali citizenship, even if they become a citizen of another country.
(4) Denial, suspension, or deprivation of Somali citizenship may not be based on political grounds. (Art. 8) - Somali(1) Shacabka Soomaaliyeed waa mid, lamana kala qaybin karo, wuxuuna ka kooban yahay dhammaan muwaadiniinta.

Citizenship and Nationality
Uganda
- English1. Every person born in Uganda-
a. at the time of whose birth-
i. neither of his or her parents and none of his or her grandparents had diplomatic status in Uganda; and
ii. neither of his or her parents and none of his or her grandparents was a refugee in Uganda; and
b. who has lived continuously in Uganda since the ninth day of October, 1962, shall, on application, be entitled to be registered as a citizen of Uganda.
2. The following persons shall, upon application, be registered as citizens of Uganda-
a. every person married to a Uganda citizen upon proof of a legal and subsisting marriage of three years or such other period prescribed by Parliament;
b. every person who has legally and voluntarily migrated to and has been living in Uganda for at least ten years or such other period prescribed by Parliament;
c. every person who, on the commencement of this Constitution, has lived in Uganda for at least twenty years.
3. Paragraph (a) of clause (2) of this article applies also to a person who was married to a citizen of Uganda who, but for his or her death, would have continued to be a citizen of Uganda under this Constitution.
4. Where a person has been registered as a citizen of Uganda under paragraph (a) of clause (2) of this article and the marriage by virtue of which that person was registered is-
a. annulled or otherwise declared void by a court or tribunal of competent jurisdiction; or
b. dissolved,
that person shall, unless he or she renounces that citizenship, continue to be a citizen of Uganda. (Art. 12)
