Education is an essential function of the State for the preservation, development, and dissemination of culture, which must extend its benefits to society without discrimination of any kind.
Public education shall be secular and shall be based on fundamental principles of democracy. It shall instill and promote in all students a deep feeling of Honduran patriotism and shall be directly connected with the economic and social development process of the country. (Art. 151) - Spanish
La educación es función esencial del Estado para la conservación, el fomento y difusión de la cultura, la cual deberá proyectar sus beneficios a la sociedad sin discriminación de ninguna naturaleza.
La educación nacional será laica y se fundamentará en los principios esenciales de la democracia, inculcará y fomentará en los educandos profundos sentimientos hondureñistas y deberá vincularse directamente con el proceso de desarrollo económico y social del país. (Art. 151)

- EnglishEveryone shall have the right to education. The basic general education shall be compulsory. The state shall guarantee the free of charge general basic compulsory education in the state educational establishments.
Everyone shall get free of charge general vocational, primary specialized, vocational specialized and higher specialized education in the state educational establishments, within the framework determined by law.
