- EnglishThe workers of both sexes have the same labor rights and obligations, but maternity will be subject to special protection, that will include the assistance services and the corresponding leaves of absence [descansos], which will not be less than 12 weeks. A woman may not be terminated [despedida] during the pregnancy, or as long as the leaves of absence for maternity continue.

Venezuela, Bolivarian Republic of
- EnglishAll persons have the right and duty to work. The State guarantees the adoption of the necessary measures so that every person shall be able to obtain productive work providing him or her with a dignified and decorous living and guarantee him or her the full exercise of this right. It is an objective of the State to promote employment. Measures tending to guarantee the exercise of the labor rights of self employed persons shall be adopted by law. Freedom to work shall be subject only to such restrictions as may be established by law.
Every employer shall guarantee employees adequate safety, hygienic and environmental conditions on the job. The State shall adopt measures and create institutions such as to make it possible to control and promote these conditions. (Art. 87) - SpanishToda persona tiene derecho al trabajo y el deber de trabajar. El Estado garantizará la adopción de las medidas necesarias a los fines de que toda persona pueda obtener ocupación productiva, que le proporcione una existencia digna y decorosa y le garantice el pleno ejercicio de este derecho.
