- EnglishThe Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman shall have as its duties the protection and guardianship of the rights of the inhabitants of Ecuador and the defense of the rights of Ecuadorian nationals living abroad. It shall have the following attributions, in addition to those provided for by law:
1. To support, by virtue of its office or at the request of a party, the actions of protection, habeas corpus, access to public information, habeas data, noncompliance, citizen action and complaints for poor quality or improper provision of public or private services.
2. To issue measures of mandatory and immediate compliance for the protection of rights and to request trial and punishment from the competent authority for their violations.
3. To investigate and rule, in the framework of its attributions, on the deeds or omissions of natural persons or legal entities that provide public services.
4. To exercise and promote surveillance of due process of law and to immediately prevent and stop all forms of cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment. (Art. 215) - SpanishLa Defensoría del Pueblo tendrá como funciones la protección y tutela de los derechos de los habitantes del Ecuador y la defensa de los derechos de las ecuatorianas y ecuatorianos que estén fuera del país. Serán sus atribuciones, además de las establecidas en la ley, las siguientes:
1. El patrocinio, de oficio o a petición de parte, de las acciones de protección, hábeas corpus, acceso a la información pública, hábeas data, incumplimiento, acción ciudadana y los reclamos por mala calidad o indebida prestación de los servicios públicos o privados.
2. Emitir medidas de cumplimiento obligatorio e inmediato en materia de protección de los derechos, y solicitar juzgamiento y sanción ante la autoridad competente, por sus incumplimientos.
3. Investigar y resolver, en el marco de sus atribuciones, sobre acciones u omisiones de personas naturales o jurídicas que presten servicios públicos.
4. Ejercer y promover la vigilancia del debido proceso, y prevenir, e impedir de inmediato la tortura, el trato cruel, inhumano y degradante en todas sus formas. (Art. 215)

(1) The Public Protector of Rights is an independent body of the Slovak Republic which, within the scope and as laid down by law, protects basic rights and freedoms of natural and legal persons in proceedings before public administration bodies and other bodies of public authority, if their conduct, decision-making, or inaction, is in conflict with the legal order. In cases laid down by law, the Public Protector of Rights may participate in holding the persons working in the public administration bodies accountable, if those persons violated a basic human right or freedom of natural or legal persons. All bodies of public authority shall give the Public Protector of Rights necessary assistance.
(2) The Public Protector of Rights may file a motion with the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic to initiate a proceeding pursuant to Article 125, if a generally binding regulation is violating a basic human right or freedom granted to a natural or legal person.
(3) The Public Defender of Rights shall be elected by the National Council of the Slovak Republic from among candidates proposed by at least 15 Members of Parliament for a term of five years. As Public Defender of Rights may be elected any citizen of the Slovak Republic, who is eligible for election as a Member of Parliament and has attained the age of 35 by the date of election. A Public Defender of Rights cannot be a member of a political party or a political movement. The Public Defender of Rights shall remain in office after the expiry of the term of office until the new Public Defender of Rights is sworn in.

(1) Verejný ochranca práv je nezávislý orgán Slovenskej republiky, ktorý v rozsahu a spôsobom ustanoveným zákonom chráni základné práva a slobody fyzických osôb a právnických osôb v konaní pred orgánmi verejnej správy a ďalšími orgánmi verejnej moci, ak je ich konanie, rozhodovanie alebo nečinnosť v rozpore s právnym poriadkom. V zákonom ustanovených prípadoch sa verejný ochranca práv môţe podieľať na uplatnení zodpovednosti osôb pôsobiacich v orgánoch verejnej moci, ak tieto osoby porušili základné právo alebo slobodu fyzických osôb a právnických osôb. Všetky orgány verejnej moci poskytnú verejnému ochrancovi práv potrebnú súčinnosť.
(2) Verejný ochranca práv môţe predloţiť Ústavnému súdu Slovenskej republiky návrh na začatie konania podľa čl. 125, ak všeobecne záväzný právny predpis porušuje základné právo alebo slobodu priznanú fyzickej osobe alebo právnickej osobe.
(3) Verejného ochrancu práv volí Národná rada Slovenskej republiky na obdobie piatich rokov z kandidátov, ktorých jej navrhne najmenej 15 poslancov Národnej rady Slovenskej republiky. Za verejného ochrancu práv možno zvoliť občana Slovenskej republiky, ktorý je voliteľný za poslanca Národnej rady Slovenskej republiky a v deň voľby dosiahol vek 35 rokov. Verejný ochranca práv nemôže byť členom politickej strany ani politického hnutia. Verejný ochranca práv ostáva vo funkcii aj po uplynutí funkčného obdobia do zloženia sľubu novým verejným ochrancom práv.

- EnglishThe Ombudsman is an independent authority created within the sphere of the National Congress operating with full autonomy and without receiving instructions from any other authority. The mission of the Ombudsman is the defense and protection of human rights and other rights, guarantees and interests sheltered under this Constitution and the laws, in the face of deeds, acts or omissions of the Administration; as well as the control of public administrative functions.
The Ombudsman has capacity to be a party in a lawsuit. He is appointed and removed by Congress with the vote of two-thirds of the members present of each House.
… (Sec. 86) - SpanishEl Defensor del Pueblo es un órgano independiente instituido en el ámbito del Congreso de la Nación, que actuará con plena autonomía funcional, sin recibir instrucciones de ninguna autoridad. a. To promote the adequate [buen] functioning and expediting [agilización] of the government administration, in matters of Human Rights;
b. To investigate and denounce [the] administrative behavior that is detrimental to the interests of persons;
c. To investigate every type of denunciations that may be brought by any person regarding the violations of Human Rights;
d. To recommend privately or publicly to the functionaries the modification of any administrative behavior objected to;
e. To issue public censure for acts or behavior against the Constitutional rights;
f. To promote actions or recourses, judicial or administrative, in those cases in which they proceed; and
g. The other functions and attributions assigned to him [or her] by the law.
The Procurator of Human Rights, of office[,] or at the instance of a person, will act with due diligence so that, during the regime of exception, the fundamental rights whose application may not have been expressly restrained may be fully guaranteed. a) Promover el buen funcionamiento y la agilización de la gestión administrativa gubernamental, en materia de Derechos Humanos;
b) Investigar y denunciar comportamientos administrativos lesivos a los intereses de las personas;
c) Investigar toda clase de denuncias que le sean planteadas por cualquier persona, sobre violaciones a los Derechos Humanos;
d) Recomendar privada o públicamente a los funcionarios la modificación de un comportamiento administrativo objetado;
e) Emitir censura pública por actos o comportamientos en contra de los derechos constitucionales;

El Procurador de los Derechos Humanos, de oficio o a instancia de parte, actuará con la debida diligencia para que, durante el régimen de excepción, se garanticen a plenitud los derechos fundamentales cuya vigencia no hubiere sido expresamente restringida. - EnglishEach year, the Ombudswoman or Ombudsman shall report to the Pluri-National Legislative Assembly and to the Institution of Social Control on the situation of human rights in the country and the management of its administration. The Ombudswoman or Ombudsman may be summoned at any moment by the Pluri-National Legislative Assembly or by the Institution of Social Control, in order to provide a report on the exercise of its functions. - SpanishCada año, la Defensora o el Defensor del Pueblo informará a la Asamblea Legislativa Plurinacional y al Control Social sobre la situación de los derechos humanos en el país y sobre la gestión de su administración. - EnglishThe Civic Defender shall be independent state body who shall protect citizens' rights and monitor the work of public administration bodies, body in charge of legal protection of proprietary rights and interests of the Republic of Serbia, as well as other bodies and organizations, companies and institutions to which public powers have been delegated.
The Civic Defender shall not be authorized to monitor the work of the National Assembly, President of the Republic, Government, Constitutional Court, courts and Public Prosecutor's Offices.
The Civic Defender shall be elected and dismissed by the National Assembly, in accordance with the Constitution and Law.
