a. monitor the state of human rights throughout Lesotho;
b. monitor the human rights situation of detainees;
c. investigate violations of human rights and, if necessary, be responsible for instituting proceedings against such violation in the courts of law;
d. sensitise the public on its work, the nature and meaning of human rights;
e. develop and deliver education and training programmes as necessary to the general public;
f. submit opinions, recommendations, propositions and reports to public institutions on human rights issues, using the media and other means;
g. advocate for ratification, and recommend the domestication of international and regional human rights instruments;
h. promote and monitor the harmonisation of national laws and practices with international and regional human rights instruments ratified by Lesotho;
i. develop and maintain working relations with organisations and representatives of civil society in Lesotho;
j. work in cooperation with the United Nations, regional mechanisms, national human rights institutions of other countries, in the areas of the promotion and protection of human rights, and
k. undertake any other activities or responsibilities that are consistent with the spirit of the promotion and protection of human rights. (Sec. 133F)

- English(1) There shall be a Human Rights Commissions that shall be mandated to:
(a) Promote respect of human rights, and the culture of human rights;
(b) Promote the protection, development, and attainment of human rights; and
(c) Monitor and assess the observance of the conduct of human rights in the Federal Republic of Somalia.
(2) In accordance with the Constitution, the Human Rights Commission shall have powers to perform the following functions:
(a) To investigate and report on the observance of human rights;
(b) To take steps to secure appropriate redress where human rights have been violated;
(c) To carry out research; and
(d) To educate the public and state officials on international standards relating to human rights.
(3) The powers and the activities of the Human Rights Commission shall be stipulated in the Human Rights Commission Act.

- EnglishThe National Equality Councils are bodies responsible for ensuring the full observance and exercise of the rights enshrined in the Constitution and in international human rights instruments. The Councils shall exercise their attributions for the drafting, cross-cutting application, observance, follow-up and evaluation of public policies involving the issues of gender, ethnic groups, generations, interculturalism, and disabilities and human mobility, in accordance with the law. To achieve their objectives, they shall coordinate with leading and executive entities and with specialized organizations for the protection of rights at all levels of government. (Art. 156)
- SpanishLos consejos nacionales para la igualdad son órganos responsables de asegurar la plena vigencia y el ejercicio de los derechos consagrados en la Constitución y en los instrumentos internacionales de derechos humanos. Los consejos ejercerán atribuciones en la formulación, transversalización, observancia, seguimiento y evaluación de las políticas públicas relacionadas con las temáticas de género, étnicas, generacionales, interculturales, y de discapacidades y movilidad humana, de acuerdo con la ley. The human rights and freedoms enshrined in this Chapter7 shall be respected and upheld by the executive, legislature, judiciary and all organs of the Government and its agencies and, where applicable to them, by all natural and legal persons in Malawi and shall be enforceable in the manner prescribed in this Chapter.
2. Any person or group of persons, natural or legal, with sufficient interest in the promotion, protection and enforcement of rights under this Chapter shall be entitled to the assistance of the courts, the Ombudsman, the Human Rights Commission and other organs of the Government to ensure the promotion, protection and enforcement of those rights and the redress of any grievances in respect of those rights. - English1. The Human Rights Defender shall be an independent official, who shall follow the respect for human rights and freedoms by state and local self-government bodies and officials, as well as by organizations in cases stipulated by the Law on the Human Rights Defender, and shall facilitate the restoration of violated rights and freedoms and the improvement of the normative legal acts related to human rights and freedoms.
2. The Human Rights Defender shall present to the National Assembly an annual communication on his activities and on the situation of protection of human rights and freedoms. The communication may contain recommendations on legislative or other measures.
3. State and local self-government bodies and officials shall be obliged to provide the necessary documents, information, and clarifications to and support the work of the Human Rights Defender in the manner stipulated by law.
4. Other powers of the Human Rights Defender shall be stipulated by the Law on the Human Rights Defender. (Art. 191) - Armenian1. 3. Պետական և տեղական ինքնակառավարման մարմիններն ու պաշտոնատար անձինք պարտավոր են օրենքով սահմանված կարգով Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանին տրամադրել անհրաժեշտ փաստաթղթեր, տեղեկություններ և պարզաբանումներ, ինչպես նաև աջակցել նրա աշխատանքներին:
