- English1. Everyone may file complaints, for acts or omissions by public authorities, with the Ombudsman who shall receive and investigate them with no powers of decision, submitting to the competent organs any necessary recommendations for preventing and resolving illegalities or injustices.
2. The activity of the Ombudsman shall be independent of the contentious and gracious means foreseen in the Constitution and in the laws.
3. The Ombudsman shall be an independent organ elected by the National Assembly, for the term that the law determines.
4. The Ombudsman shall have the right to the cooperation of all citizens and of all organs and agents of the State and other private or public legal persons, as well as the right to broadcast his recommendations publicly through the media.
5. The law shall regulate the powers of the Ombudsman and the organization of his service. (Art. 21) - Portuguese1. - EnglishThe Procurator of Human Rights has the following attributions:
a. To promote the adequate [buen] functioning and expediting [agilización] of the government administration, in matters of Human Rights;
b. To investigate and denounce [the] administrative behavior that is detrimental to the interests of persons;
c. To investigate every type of denunciations that may be brought by any person regarding the violations of Human Rights;
d. To recommend privately or publicly to the functionaries the modification of any administrative behavior objected to;
e. To issue public censure for acts or behavior against the Constitutional rights;
f. To promote actions or recourses, judicial or administrative, in those cases in which they proceed; and
g. The other functions and attributions assigned to him [or her] by the law.
The Procurator of Human Rights, of office[,] or at the instance of a person, will act with due diligence so that, during the regime of exception, the fundamental rights whose application may not have been expressly restrained may be fully guaranteed. (a) Investigate complaints regarding allegations or outright violations against basic rights and freedoms, abuse of power, unfair behavior, mercilessness, lack of clemency, indiscipline or disrespect towards a person that lives in Somalia by an officer who works at the various levels of government, an apparently unfair behavior, or act in a corrupt manner, or a behavior by an officer deemed as illegal by a democratic society or regarded as mischief or injustice.

- EnglishEach year, the Ombudswoman or Ombudsman shall report to the Pluri-National Legislative Assembly and to the Institution of Social Control on the situation of human rights in the country and the management of its administration. The Ombudswoman or Ombudsman may be summoned at any moment by the Pluri-National Legislative Assembly or by the Institution of Social Control, in order to provide a report on the exercise of its functions. - English(1) Parliament may, by law, provide for the establishment of the office of Ombudsman.
(2) The Ombudsman shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as Parliament may, by law, determine, including the power to investigate any action taken by a Ministry, a public officer or a statutory public authority.

- English(1) The Human Rights Commission established under the Human Rights Commission Decree 2009 continues in existence as the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
(2) The Commission consists of—
(a) a chairperson, who must be a person who is or is qualified to be appointed as a judge; and
(b) 4 other members, appointed by the President on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission.

(4) Subject to this Constitution, the Commission is responsible for—
(a) promoting the protection and observance of, and respect for, human rights in public and private institutions, and to develop a culture of human rights in Fiji;
(b) education about the rights and freedoms recognised in this Chapter, as well as other internationally recognised rights and freedoms;
(c) monitoring, investigating and reporting on the observance of human rights in all spheres of life;
(d) making recommendations to Government concerning matters affecting the rights and freedoms recognised in this Chapter, including recommendations concerning existing or proposed laws;
(e) receiving and investigating complaints about alleged abuses of human rights and take steps to secure appropriate redress if human rights have been violated, including making applications to court for redress or for other forms of relief or remedies;
(f) investigating or researching, on its own initiative or on the basis of a complaint, any matter in respect of human rights, and make recommendations to improve the functioning of public or private entities;
(g) monitoring compliance by the State with obligations under treaties and conventions relating to human rights; and
(h) performing any other functions or exercising any powers as are conferred on the Commission by a written law.
(5) Subject to this Constitution, any person has the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission, alleging that a right or freedom in this Chapter has been denied, violated or infringed, or is threatened.

- English(1) The National Assembly shall elect an Ombudsman, who shall defend the rights and freedoms of the citizens.

- English(1) There shall be an Ombudsman Commission, consisting of a Chief Ombudsman and two Ombudsmen.
(2) The members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of an Ombudsman Appointments Committee consisting of-
(a) the Prime Minister, who shall be Chairman; and
(b) the Chief Justice; and
(c) the Leader of the Opposition; and
(d) the Chairman of the appropriate Permanent Parliamentary Committee, or, if the Chairman is not a member of the Parliament who is recognized by the Parliament as being generally committed to support the Government in the Parliament, the Deputy Chairman of that Committee; and
(e) the Chairman of the Public Services Commission.
