- EnglishThe Republic provides particular care and protection for the family. The legal relations in marriage, the family and cohabitation are regulated by law. Parents have the right and duty to provide for the nurturing and education of their children. Children are responsible for the care of their old and infirm parents. The Republic provides particular protection for parentless children and children without parental care. (Art. 40)

- English(1) A surviving spouse is entitled to a reasonable provision out of the estate of the other spouse whether the other spouse died having made a valid will or not and whether the spouses were married by civil or customary rites.
