The political parties and coalitions of political parties participate [concourrent] in the expression of suffrage within the conditions established by the Constitution and by the law. They work for the forming [formation] of the citizens, for the promotion of their participation in national life and the management of public affairs.

The political parties and coalitions of political parties, likewise the independent candidates, are held to respect the Constitution as well as the principles of national sovereignty and of democracy. They are forbidden to identify themselves to one race, to one ethnicity, to one sex, to one religion, to one sect, to one language or to one part of the territory.
The political parties are equally held to strictly respect the rules of good associative governance under penalty of sanctions susceptible to lead to suspension and to dissolution.
The Constitution guarantees equal rights to the political parties including those that oppose the policy of the Government in place.

The political parties participate [concourent] in the exercise of suffrage. They are formed and exercise their activities freely within the conditions determined by the Charter of Political Parties [Charte des Partis politiques]. They must respect the principles of national sovereignty, of democracy, of the territorial integrity and of the secularity of the State.
The State participates in the financing of the political parties within the conditions established by the law. The amount allocated for this purpose may not decrease from one budgetary fiscal year to another. However, in the case of a decrease of the proprietary resources of the general budget of the State, the allocation may be reduced in the same proportions. (Art. 5) - French
Les Partis politiques concourent à l'expression du suffrage. Ils se forment et exercent librement leurs activités dans les conditions déterminées par la Charte des partis politiques. Ils doivent respecter les principes de la souveraineté nationale, de la démocratie, de l'intégrité territoriale et la laïcité de l'Etat.
L’Etat concourt au financement des partis politiques aux conditions fixées par la loi. Le montant alloué à cette fin ne peut diminuer d'un exercice budgétaire à un autre. Toutefois, en cas de diminution des ressources propres du budget général de l'Etat, l’allocation pourra être réduite dans les mêmes proportions. (Art. 5)

(2) Every citizen of Ghana of voting age has the right to join a political party.
(3) Subject to the provisions of this article, a political party is free to participate in shaping the political will of the people, to disseminate information on political ideas, social and economic programmes of a national character, and sponsor candidates for elections to any public office other than to District Assemblies or lower local government units.
(4) Every political party shall have a national character, and membership shall not be based on ethnic, religious, regional or other sectional divisions.
(5) The internal organization of a political party shall conform to democratic principles and its actions and purposes shall not contravene or be inconsistent with this Constitution or any other law.
