- English1. Every Ethiopian national, without any discrimination based on colour, race, nation, nationality, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion or other status, has the following rights:
a. To take part in the conduct of public affairs, directly and through freely chosen representatives;
b. On the attainment of 18 years of age, to vote in accordance with law;
c. To vote and to be elected at periodic elections to any office at any level of government; elections shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret ballot, guaranteeing the free expression of the will of the electors.
2. The right of everyone to be a member of his own will in a political organization, labour union, trade organization, or employers' or professional association shall be respected if he or she meets the special and general requirements stipulated by such organization.
3. Elections to positions of responsibility within any of the organizations referred to under sub-Article 2 of this Article shall be conducted in a free and democratic manner.

2. በፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች፣ በሠራተኞች፣ በንግድ፣ በአሠሪዎችና በሙያ ማኅበራት ለተሳትፎ ድርጅቱ የሚጠይቀውን ጠቅላላና ልዩ የአባልነት መስፈርት የሚያሟላ ማንኛውም ሰው በፍላጐቱ አባል የመሆን መብቱ የተከበረ መሆን አለበት፡፡
3. በዚህ አንቀጽ ንዑስ አንቀጽ 2 በተመለከቱት ድርጅቶች ውስጥ ለኃላፊነት ቦታዎች የሚካሄዱ ምርጫዎች ነጻና ዴሞክራሲያዊ በሆነ መንገድ ይፈጸማሉ፡፡
4. የዚህ አንቀጽ ንዑስ አንቀጽ 2 እና 3 ድንጋጌዎች የሕዝብን ጥቅም ሰፋ ባለ ሁኔታ የሚነኩ እስከሆነ ድረስ በሕዝባዊ ድርጅቶች ላይ ተፈጻሚ ይሆናሉ፡፡ (አንቀጽ 38)

- EnglishLibyans shall be equal before the law. They shall enjoy equal civil and political rights, shall have the same opportunities, and be subject to the same public duties and obligations, without discrimination due to religion, sect, language, wealth, sex, kinship, political opinions, social status, and tribal, provincial or familial affiliation.
The isolation of some persons and banning them from sovereign offices and leadership posts in the State's higher departments for a temporary period of time pursuant to a law issued to such effect, and which does not prejudice the right of the persons concerned to appeal, shall not be deemed a violation of the provisions of this declaration. (Art. 6) - Arabicالليبيون سواء أمام القانون، ومتساوون في التمتع بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية، وفي تكافؤ الفرص، وفيما عليهم من الواجبات والمسؤوليات العامة، لا تمييز بينهم بسبب الدِّين أو المذهب أو اللغة أو الثروة أو الجنس أو النسب أو الآراء السياسية أو الوضع الاجتماعي أو الانتماء القبلي أو الجهوي أو الأسرى.

- English(1) Every citizen of the Untied Republic who has attained the age of eighteen years is entitled to vote in any election held in Tanzania. This right shall be exercised in accordance with the sub article (2), and of the other provisions of this Constitution and the law for the time being in force in Tanzania in relation to public elections.
(2) Parliament may enact a law imposing conditions restricting a citizen from exercising the right to vote by reason of any of the following grounds:
(a) being a citizen of another state;
(b) being mentally infirm;
(c) being convicted of certain specified criminal offences; or
(d) omission or failure to prove or to produce evidence as to age, citizenship or registration as a voter.
Except for these grounds no other grounds shall disqualify a citizen from exercising the right to vote.
