The legislative power is represented by a Parliament composed of two (2) Chambers: the National Assembly and the Senate.
The members of the National Assembly have the title of Deputy. They are elected by direct universal suffrage for a renewable term of five (5) years.
The members of the Senate have the title of Senator. They are designated by way of election by indirect universal suffrage and by way of appointment by the President of the Republic. The duration of the mandate of the Senators is of five (5) years renewable. The Senate assures the representation of the local collectivities.
