- EnglishSuffrage may be exercised by all citizens of the Philippines not otherwise disqualified by law, who are at least eighteen years of age, and who shall have resided in the Philippines for at least one year, and in the place wherein they propose to vote, for at least six months immediately preceding the election. - English(1) General elections shall be conducted in a direct, general, free, secret, honest, and fair manner once every five years.
(2) General elections shall be conducted to elect the members of the DPR, DPD, the President and Vice-President, and the Regional People's Representative Council (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah or DPRD).
(3) The participants in the general election for the election of the members of the DPR and the members of the DPRDs are political parties.
(4) The participants in the general election for the election of the members of the DPD are individuals.
