Status of the Constitution
- English(1) Any person interpreting or applying this Constitution must promote the spirit, purpose and objects of this Constitution as a whole, and the values that underlie a democratic society based on human dignity, equality and freedom.
(2) If a law appears to be inconsistent with a provision of this Constitution, the court must adopt a reasonable interpretation of that law that is consistent with the provisions of this Constitution over an interpretation that is inconsistent with this Constitution.

Status of the Constitution
- English1. This Constitution shall enter into force upon signature of the General Framework Agreement as a constitutional act amending and superseding the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. Within three months from the entry into force of this Constitution, the Entities shall amend their respective constitutions to ensure their conformity with this Constitution in accordance with Article III(3)(b). (Art. XII) - Bosnian1. Ustav će stupiti na snagu po potpisivanju Opšteg okvirnog sporazuma kao ustavni akt, kojim se amandmanski zamjenjuje i stavlja van snage Ustav Republike Bosne i Hercegovine.

U roku od tri mjeseca od stupanja na snagu ovog Ustava, entiteti će amandmanskim postupkom izmijeniti svoje ustave da bi se osigurala saglasnost sa ovim Ustavom u skladu sa članom III, stav 3, tačka (b). In case that by any public disorder [tastorno], a government contrary to the principles that it sanctions is established, as soon as the people recover their liberty, its observance will be reestablished, and in accordance with it and the laws that have been adopted [expedido] by virtue of it, those who have figured in the government emanating from the rebellion, as well as those who have cooperated with it, will be tried [juzgados].
