Status of the Constitution
- EnglishIf the Constitutional Court consulted by the President of the Republic, by the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly or the President of the Senate, by a tenth of the Deputies or a tenth of the Senators, declares that an international treaty or agreement includes a clause contrary to the Constitution, the ratification or approval may only intervene after the revision of the Constitution. (Art. 216)

(1) The existing law shall continue to be in force but shall be construed with such modifications, adaptations, qualifications and exceptions as may be necessary to bring it into conformity with sections 12 to 235 of this Constitution.
(2) For the purpose of this section “existing law” means a law that
(a) was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and has continued to be part of the law of Barbados at all times since that day;
(b) re-enacted a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 without alteration; or
(c) altered a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and does not thereby render that law inconsistent with sections 12 to 23 of this Constitution in a manner in which, or to an extent to which, it was not previously so inconsistent.

b. Exceptionally to the provisions of the second clause of Article 38 of this Constitution, all laws, laws by Decrees, Decrees, statutes, orders, edicts and circulars that have been issued and are in force prior to the first meeting convened by the National Assembly remain proper and valid, unless amended or rescinded in accordance with the regulations prescribed in this Constitution. - English(1) Any person interpreting or applying this Constitution must promote the spirit, purpose and objects of this Constitution as a whole, and the values that underlie a democratic society based on human dignity, equality and freedom.
(2) If a law appears to be inconsistent with a provision of this Constitution, the court must adopt a reasonable interpretation of that law that is consistent with the provisions of this Constitution over an interpretation that is inconsistent with this Constitution.

3. This Constitution is the supreme law of the country and the source of all laws of the State, and all laws, orders and acts contrary to its letter and spirit shall be null and void. 4. All organs of the State, all public and private associations and institutions and all citizens shall be bound by and remain loyal to the Constitution and shall ensure its observance. 5. Status of the Constitution
- English1. This Constitution shall enter into force upon signature of the General Framework Agreement as a constitutional act amending and superseding the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. Within three months from the entry into force of this Constitution, the Entities shall amend their respective constitutions to ensure their conformity with this Constitution in accordance with Article III(3)(b). U roku od tri mjeseca od stupanja na snagu ovog Ustava, entiteti će amandmanskim postupkom izmijeniti svoje ustave da bi se osigurala saglasnost sa ovim Ustavom u skladu sa članom III, stav 3, tačka (b). (Član XII) - Croatian1. Ovaj Ustav će stupiti na snagu nakon potpisivanja Općeg okvirnog sporazuma kao ustavni akt koji zamjenjuje i stavlja van snage Ustav Republike Bosne i Hercegovine.

(1) As from the commencement of this Act the following enactments of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, namely,—
(a) the New Zealand Constitution Act 1852 (15 and 16 Vict, c 72); and
(b) the Statute of Westminster 1931 (22 Geo V, c 4); and
(c) the New Zealand Constitution (Amendment) Act 1947 (11 Geo VI, c 4),—
shall cease to have effect as part of the law of New Zealand.
