Cabo Verde
- English1. General or common international law shall be an integral part of the Cabo Verdean legal order.
2. International treaties and agreements, validly approved or ratified, shall enter into force in the Cabo Verdean legal order subsequent to their official publication and entry into force in the international legal order as long as they remain internationally binding on the State of Cabo Verde.
3. Legal acts emanating from the competent organs of supranational organizations of which Cabo Verde is a member, shall enter directly into force in the domestic legal order, provided that such entry into force is established in the respective constitutive conventions.
4. The rules and principles of general or common as well as of conventional international law validly approved or ratified shall prevail, after their entry into force in the international and domestic legal orders, over all legislative and domestic regulatory acts of infra-constitutional force. - EnglishThe international commitments, specified in Articles 113 to 115 below must be deferred, before their ratification, to the Constitutional Court, either by the President of the Republic or by the Prime Minister, or by the President of the National Assembly, or by one-tenth (1/10) of the Deputies, or by the President of the Senate or by one-tenth (1/10) of the Senators. The Constitutional Court verifies, within a time period of one (1) month, if these commitments contain a clause contrary to the Constitution. However, at the demand of the Government, if there is urgency, this time period is reduced to eight (8) days.
In the affirmative, these commitments cannot be ratified.
