The Political Constitution is the fundamental charter of the Republic; the other laws are subordinate to it. Any laws, treaties, decrees, orders or provisions that oppose it or alter its provisions[,] have no validity [valor]. (Art. 182)

- English1. The fundamental rights established in this Constitution shall not exclude others contained in the laws and applicable rules of international law.
2. Constitutional and legal precepts relating to fundamental rights must be interpreted and incorporated in accordance with the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man, the African Charter on the Rights of Man and Peoples and international treaties on the subject ratified by the Republic of Angola.
3. In any consideration by the Angolan courts of disputes concerning fundamental rights, the international instruments referred to in the previous point shall be applied, even if not invoked by the parties concerned. 1. (a) the international instruments containing these obligations;
(b) the reports and expression of views of bodies administering or enforcing these instruments;
(c) the reports, decisions or opinions of international and regional institutions administering or enforcing Conventions on human rights and freedoms;
