Status of International Law
- English1. The legal system of East Timor shall adopt the general or customary principles of international law.
2. Rules provided for in international conventions, treaties and agreements shall apply in the internal legal system of East Timor following their approval, ratification or accession by the respective competent organs and after publication in the official gazette.

Legally binding acts of the European Community and the European Union have priority over the laws of the Slovak Republic. 22. To approve or reject treaties concluded with other nations and international organizations, and concordats with the Holy See. Treaties and concordats have a higher hierarchy than laws.
The American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man; the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the American Convention on Human Rights; the International Pact on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; the International Pact on Civil and Political Rights and its empowering Protocol; the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide; the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination; the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Woman; the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatments or Punishments; the Convention on the Rights of the Child; in the full force of their provisions, they have constitutional hierarchy, do no repeal any section of the First Part of this Constitution and are to be understood as complementing the rights and guarantees recognized herein. They shall only be denounced, in such event, by the National Executive Power after the approval of two-thirds of all the members of each House.
In order to attain constitutional hierarchy, the other treaties and conventions on human rights shall require the vote of two-thirds of all the members of each House, after their approval by Congress.
23.- To legislate and promote positive measures guaranteeing true equal opportunities and treatment, the full benefit and exercise of the rights recognized by this Constitution and by the international treaties on human rights in force, particularly referring to children, women, the aged, and disabled persons.

Legislar y promover medidas de acción positiva que garanticen la igualdad real de oportunidades y de trato, y el pleno goce y ejercicio de los derechos reconocidos por esta Constitución y por los tratados internacionales vigentes sobre derechos humanos, en particular respecto de los niños, las mujeres, los ancianos y las personas con discapacidad.
24. Aprobar tratados de integración que deleguen competencias y jurisdicción a organizaciones supraestatales en condiciones de reciprocidad e igualdad, y que respeten el orden democrático y los derechos humanos. Las normas dictadas en su consecuencia tienen jerarquía superior a las leyes.

There shall be no appeal against a decision of the Constitutional Court; this however does not apply if due to a decision by a body of an international organization set up to ensure the observance of international agreements binding for the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Republic has the obligation in proceedings before the Constitutional Court to reopen a final decision of the Constitutional Court. If the Supreme Court, referred to [the matter] by the President of the Union, by the President of the Assembly of the Union or by the Governors of the Islands, declares that an international commitment includes a clause contrary to the Constitution, the authorization to ratify it or approve it may only intervene after the revision of the Constitution.

Si la Cour Suprême, saisie par le Président de l’Union, par le Président de l’Assemblée de l’Union ou par les Gouverneurs des Iles, déclare qu’un engagement international comporte une clause contraire à la Constitution, l’autorisation de la ratifier ou de l’approuver ne peut intervenir qu’après la révision de la Constitution.

Such a decision relates only to a future amendment of limited extent. The decision is taken in accordance with the procedure laid down in Article 6, paragraph two. - EnglishInternational treaties and agreements ratified by the Congress that recognize human rights and that prohibit their limitation in the states of emergency, have prevalence in the internal order. The rights and duties consecrated in this Charter will be interpreted in conformity with international treaties on human rights ratified by Colombia.
The Colombian State can recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court in the terms specified in the Statute of Rome adopted on 17 of July of 1998 by the Plenipotentiary Conference of the United Nations and, consequently, to ratify this treaty in accordance within the procedure established in this Constitution.
The admission of a substantial disparity in treatment by the Statute of Rome with respect to the guarantees contained in the Constitution will have effects exclusively within the scope of the matter regulated in it.
