- English1. There is established the Electoral Commission of Zambia which shall have offices in Provinces and progressively in districts.
2. The Electoral Commission shall—
a. implement the electoral process;
b. conduct elections and referenda;
c. register voters;
d. settle minor electoral disputes, as prescribed;
e. regulate the conduct of voters and candidates;
f. accredit observers and election agents, as prescribed;
g. delimit electoral boundaries; and
h. perform such other functions as prescribed. (Art. 229)

- EnglishThe Commission is responsible for the following missions:
a) To organize the elections at the national level, at the level of the communes and at that of the collines or of the quartiers;
b) To see to it that the elections are free, regular and transparent;
c) To proclaim the provisional results of the elections within a time period defined by the law;
d) To promulgate the arrangements, the code of conduct and the technical details, including the location of the polls [bureaux de vote] and the hours in which they are open;
e) To receive the claims concerning the respect for the electoral rules and to process them [y donner suite];
f) The decisions of the Commission are without appeal;
g) To see to it, applying the appropriate rules, that the electoral campaigns do not take place [se déroulent] in a manner that incites to ethnic violence or in any other manner contrary to this Constitution;

- English(1) Elections for the seats in Parliament provided for under Articles 97(1)(c) and 98(1)(b), (c) and (d), and for the members of county assemblies under article 177(1)(b) and (c), shall be on the basis of proportional representation by use of party lists.
(2) The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission shall be responsible for the conduct and supervision of elections for seats provided for under clause (1) and shall ensure that—
(a) each political party participating in a general election nominates and submits a list of all the persons who would stand elected if the party were to be entitled to all the seats provided for under clause (1), within the time prescribed by national legislation;
(b) except in the case of the seats provided for under Article 98 (1) (b), each party list comprises the appropriate number of qualified candidates and alternates between male and female candidates in the priority in which they are listed;
(c) except in the case of county assembly seats, each party list reflects the regional and ethnic diversity of the people of Kenya.

- EnglishSubject to the provisions of this Constitution, the Electoral Commission shall be responsible for the conduct and supervision of the registration of voters for, and of, all public elections and referenda; and for that purpose shall have power to make regulations by statutory instrument for the registration of voters, the conduct of Presidential, Parliamentary or Local Government elections and referenda, and other matters connected therewith, including regulations for voting by proxy. The Independent National Electoral Commission is responsible for the organization of the electoral process, notably of the registration of the electors, of the maintenance of the electoral list [fichier électoral], the operations of the vote, of the counting and of any referendum.
It assures the regularity of the electoral and referendum process.
An organic law establishes the organization and the functioning of the Independent National Electoral Commission. (Art. 211) - FrenchIl est institué une Commission électorale nationale indépendante dotée de la personnalité juridique.
La Commission électorale nationale indépendante est chargée de l’organisation du processus électoral, notamment de l’enrôlement des électeurs, de la tenue du fichier électoral, des opérations de vote, de dépouillement et de tout référendum.
Elle assure la régularité du processus électoral et référendaire.
Une loi organique fixe l’organisation et le fonctionnement de la Commission électorale nationale indépendante. (Art. 211)

- English1. The Electoral Commission shall exercise such functions in relation to elections as are conferred upon it by this Constitution or by an Act of Parliament.
2. The duties and functions of the Electoral Commission shall include—
a. to determine constituency boundaries impartially on the oasis of ensuring that constituencies contain approximately equal numbers of voters eligible to register, subject only to considerations of—
i. population density;
ii. ease of communication; and
iii. geographical features and existing administrative areas;
b. to review existing constituency boundaries at intervals of not more than five years and alter them in accordance with the principles laid down in subsection (2) (a);
c. to determine electoral petitions and complaints related to the conduct of any elections;
d. to ensure compliance with the provisions of this Constitution and any Act of Parliament; and
e. to perform such other functions as may be prescribed by this Constitution or an Act of Parliament.

(1) There shall be established for each State of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, one or more election tribunals to be known as the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Tribunals which shall, to the exclusion of any Court or Tribunal, have original jurisdiction to hear and determine petitions as to whether
(a) any person has been validly elected as a member of the National Assembly; or
(b) any person has been validly elected as member of the House of Assembly of a State.
