The candidature for the office of President of the Republic is a right recognized to all Tunisians [masculine] or Tunisians [feminine], who are not holders of another nationality, born of a Tunisian father and mother, paternal and maternal grandfathers, all remaining of Tunisian nationality without discontinuity.
The candidate [masculine] or candidate [feminine] must be, on the day of the deposit of their candidature, at least forty years old and enjoy their civil and political rights.
The candidature is presented to the Independent Superior Instance for the Elections according to the modalities and conditions specified by the electoral law. (Art. 89) - Arabic
التّرشّح لمنصب رئيس الجمهوريّة حقّ لكلّ تونسيّ أو تونسيّة غير حامل لجنسيّة أخرى مولود لأب وأمّ، وجدّ لأب، وجدّ لأمّ تونسيّين، وكلّهم تونسيّون دون انقطاع.
ويجب أن يكون المترشّح أو المترشّحة، يوم تقديم ترشّحه، بالغا من العمر أربعين سنة على الأقلّ ومتمتّعا بجميع حقوقه المدنيّة والسّياسيّة.
يقع تقديم التّرشّح للهيئة العليا المستقلّة للانتخابات حسب الطّريقة والشّروط المنصوص عليها بالقانون الانتخابيّ. (الفصل 89) - French
La candidature au poste de Président de la République est un droit reconnu à tout tunisien ou tunisienne, qui n'est pas titulaire d'une autre nationalité, né(e) de père et de mère, de grands-pères paternel et maternel tunisiens, demeurés tous de nationalité tunisienne sans discontinuité.
Le candidat ou la candidate doit être, au jour du dépôt de sa candidature, âgé (e) de quarante ans au moins et jouir de ses droits civils et politiques.
La candidature est présentée à l’Instance supérieure indépendante pour les élections selon les modalités et conditions prévues par la loi électorale. (Art. 89)

- English(1) No person shall be elected as President unless he is qualified for election in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.
(2) A person shall be qualified to be elected as President if he —
(a) is a citizen of Singapore;
(b) is not less than 45 years of age;
(c) possesses the qualifications specified in Article 44 (2) (c) and (d);
(d) is not subject to any of the disqualifications specified in Article 45;
(e) satisfies the Presidential Elections Committee that he is a person of integrity, good character and reputation;
(f) is not a member of any political party on the date of his nomination for election; and
(g) satisfies the Presidential Elections Committee that —
(i) he has, at the date of the writ of election, met either the public sector service requirement in clause (3) or the private sector service requirement in clause (4); and
(ii) the period of service counted for the purposes of clause (3)(a), (b) or (c)(i) or (4)(a)(i) or (b)(i) or each of the 2 periods of service counted for the purposes of clause (3)(d) or (4)(c), as the case may be, falls partly or wholly within the 20 years immediately before the date of the writ of election.
