- English1. To be eligible for appointment as President or Vice-President a candidate must:
- possess the Suriname nationality;
- have reached the age of thirty;
- not be excluded from the right of active and passive suffrage;
- not have acted in violation of the Constitution.

- EnglishThe President and Vice President of the Republic will be jointly and directly elected by the people by simple majority of votes.
