- EnglishEveryone bound to the Turkish State through the bond of citizenship is a Turk.
The child of a Turkish father or a Turkish mother is a Turk.
Citizenship can be acquired under the conditions stipulated by law, and shall be forfeited only in cases determined by law.
No Turk shall be deprived of citizenship, unless he/she commits an act incompatible with loyalty to the motherland.
Recourse to the courts in appeal against the decisions and proceedings related to the deprivation of citizenship shall not be denied. (Art. 66) - TurkishTürk Devletine vatandaşlık bağı ile bağlı olan herkes Türktür.

- English(a) The following persons are citizens of the Maldives:
1. citizens of the Maldives at the commencement of this Constitution;
2. children born to a citizen of the Maldives; and
3. foreigners who, in accordance with the law, become citizens of the Maldives.
(b) No citizen of the Maldives may be deprived of citizenship.
(c) Any person who wishes to relinquish his citizenship may do so in accordance with law.

(ނ) ދިވެހިރައްޔިތުކަން ދޫކޮށްލަން އެދޭ ކޮންމެ މީހަކަށް ޤާނޫނުގައިވާ ގޮތުގެމަތީން ދިވެހިރައްޔިތުކަން ދޫކޮށްލެވިދާނެއެވެ.
(ރ) މި މާއްދާގެ (ހ) ގައި އެހެން އޮތްނަމަވެސް މުސްލިމަކަށް މެނުވީ ދިވެހިރައްޔިތަކަށް ނުވެވޭނެއެވެ (ޤާނޫނުއަސާސީގެ 9 ވަނަ މާއްދާ).
