Status of the Constitution
- EnglishA statute of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands continues in effect except to the extent it is inconsistent with this Constitution, or is amended or repealed. A writ, action, suit, proceeding, civil or criminal liability, prosecution, judgment, sentence, order, decree, appeal, cause of action, defense, contract, claim, demand, title, or right continues unaffected except as modified in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution. - EnglishThe international treaties and agreements, the laws, the ordinances and the regulations currently in force when they are not contrary to this Constitution, remain applicable as long as they are not expressly modified or abrogated. (Art. 116)

- English1. This Constitution is the supreme law of Uganda and shall have binding force on all authorities and persons throughout Uganda.
2. If any other law or any custom is inconsistent with any of the provisions of this Constitution, the Constitution shall prevail, and that other law or custom shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void. (Art. 2)

- Englisha. The application of this Constitution does not breach the treaties and agreements which Bahrain has concluded with states and international organizations.
b. Exceptionally to the provisions of the second clause of Article 38 of this Constitution, all laws, laws by Decrees, Decrees, statutes, orders, edicts and circulars that have been issued and are in force prior to the first meeting convened by the National Assembly remain proper and valid, unless amended or rescinded in accordance with the regulations prescribed in this Constitution. In the absence of other means of opposing a forcible attempt to change the constitutional order of Estonia, every citizen of Estonia has the right to resist such an attempt of his or her own initiative. - EnglishIf the Constitutional Court consulted by the President of the Republic, by the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly or the President of the Senate, by a tenth of the Deputies or a tenth of the Senators, declares that an international treaty or agreement includes a clause contrary to the Constitution, the ratification or approval may only intervene after the revision of the Constitution. (1) The existing law shall continue to be in force but shall be construed with such modifications, adaptations, qualifications and exceptions as may be necessary to bring it into conformity with sections 12 to 235 of this Constitution.
(2) For the purpose of this section “existing law” means a law that
(a) was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and has continued to be part of the law of Barbados at all times since that day;
(b) re-enacted a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 without alteration; or
(c) altered a law that was enacted or made before 30th November, 1966 and does not thereby render that law inconsistent with sections 12 to 23 of this Constitution in a manner in which, or to an extent to which, it was not previously so inconsistent.

- EnglishLaws and normative acts in Cambodia that guarantee the State properties, the rights, the liberties and the legal properties of private persons and that are in conformity with the national interests, shall remain in force until the new texts are made to amend or to abrogate them, except the provisions contrary to the spirit of the present Constitution. - EnglishAll civil, penal, financial, economic, administrative, cultural, military, political, and other laws and regulations must be based on Islamic criteria. This principle applies absolutely and generally to all articles of the Constitution as well as to all other laws and regulations, and the fuqaha' of the Guardian Council shall determine this matter.
