- EnglishEveryone shall be equal before the law and enjoy human rights irrespective of sex, religion, opinion, national origin, race, colour, property, birth or other status.

The fundamental rights and the freedoms are guaranteed by the State.
The institutions of the Republic have as [their] purpose to assure the equality in rights and in duties of all the citizens [masculine] and citizens [feminine] by removing the obstacles which hinder the development of the human person and prevent the effective participation of all in political, economic, social and cultural life. - English(1) The state shall protect women’s rights as set forth in international and regional agreements ratified by Sudan.
(2) The state shall guarantee to both men and women the equal right to enjoy all civil, political, social, cultural, and economic rights, including the right to equal pay for equal work, and other professional benefits.

- English1 Fundamental rights must be upheld throughout the legal system.
2 Whoever acts on behalf of the state is bound by fundamental rights and is under a duty to contribute to their implementation.
3 The authorities shall ensure that fundamental rights, where appropriate, apply to relationships among private persons. (Art. 35) - French1 Les droits fondamentaux doivent être réalisés dans l’ensemble de l’ordre juridique.
2 Quiconque assume une tâche de l’Etat est tenu de respecter les droits fondamentaux et de contribuer à leur réalisation.

- English1. The constitutional principles regarding fundamental rights, freedoms and guarantees are directly applicable to, and binding upon, all public and private entities.
2. The state must adopt legislative initiatives and other appropriate measures to ensure the gradual and effective realisation of economic, social and cultural rights, in accordance with the available resources.
