- EnglishSubject to the provisions of section 26, a person shall be qualified to be appointed as a Senator if, and shall not be so qualified unless, he or she—
(a) is a Commonwealth citizen who has attained the age of 21 years
(b) has been ordinarily resident in Saint Lucia for a period of 5 years immediately before the date of his or her appointment; and

- EnglishThe National Council is the representative body for social, economic, professional, and local interests. The National Council has forty members. It is composed of:
• four representatives of employers;
• four representatives of employees;
• four representatives of farmers, crafts and trades, and independent professions;
• six representatives of non-commercial fields;
• twenty-two representatives of local interests.
