Political Rights and Association

Suffrage is universal, direct or indirect, equal and secret.
All Chadians of both sexes, aged eighteen years of age and enjoying their civil and political rights[,] are electors within the conditions established by the law. (Art. 6) - Arabic
حق التصويت شامل، مباشر أو غير مباشر ومتساوي وسرّي.
جميع التشاديين من الجنسيين الذي لا يقل عم عمرهم ثمانية عشر سنة ويتمتعون بحقوقهم المدنية والسياسية هم ناخبون بموجب الشروط المحددة في القانون. (المادة 6) - French
Le suffrage est universel, direct ou indirect, égal et secret.

The State works for the promotion of the political rights of the woman for a better representation within the elected assemblies, the institutions and the public and private administrations.

Political parties and groups concur in the expression of suffrage. They form freely and exercise their activities according to conditions specified (prevues) by the law and in respect of the principles of National Sovereignty, of the territorial integrity, of national unity and of pluralistic democracy. The executive power is exercised by the President of the Republic. The President of the Republic is the elected [person] of the Nation and incarnates the national unity.
He is the guarantor of the national independence, of the integrity of the territory and of the respect for the Constitution, [and] for the treaties and international agreements.

Chadians of the two (2) sexes meeting the following conditions[,] may make the act of candidature to the functions of President of the Republic:
- to be Chadian by birth, born of father and of mother themselves Chadian of origin and not having a nationality other than Chadian;
- to be forty-five (45) years old at a minimum;
- to enjoy all their civil and political rights;
- to have a good physical and mental health;
- to be of good morality;
- to reside on the territory of the Republic of Chad.
The candidate must also pay a surety [cautionnement] the amount of which is established by the law.

يستطيع أن يترشح لمهام رئيس الجمهورية التشاديون من النوعين الاجتماعيين (2) الذين يفون بالشروط التالية:
- أن يكونوا تشاديين بالولادة، مولودين من أب وأم تشاديي الأصل ولا يحملون جنسية غير الجنسية التشادية؛
- أن لا يقل عمرهم عن 45 سنة
- يتمتعون بحقوقهم المدنية والسياسية؛
- يتمتعون بصحة جسدية وعقلية سليمة؛
- ذوي أخلاق حميدة؛
- يقيمون على أراضي جمهورية تشاد.
ويتعيّن على المرشح أيضاً دفع كفالة يحدد القانون قيمتها.

Peuvent faire acte de candidature aux fonctions de Président de la République, les Tchadiens des deux (2) sexes remplissant les conditions suivantes:
- être Tchadien de naissance, né de père et de mère eux-mêmes Tchadiens d'origine et n'avoir pas une nationalité autre que tchadienne;
- avoir quarante cinq (45) ans au minimum;
- jouir de tous ses droits civiques et politiques;
- avoir une bonne santé physique et mentale;
- être de bonne moralité;
- résider sur le territoire de la République du Tchad,
Le candidat doit en outre verser un cautionnement dont le montant est fixé par la loi.
