Political Rights and Association

All persons who, on the date of an election, are 18 years of age or older and have Icelandic nationality have the right to vote in elections to Althingi. Permanent domicile in Iceland, on the date of an election, is also a requirement for voting, unless exceptions from this rule are stipulated in the law on elections to Althingi.

Kosningarrétt við kosningar til Alþingis hafa allir sem eru 18 ára eða eldri þegar kosning fer fram og hafa íslenskan ríkisborgararétt. Lögheimili á Íslandi, þegar kosning fer fram, er einnig skilyrði kosningarréttar, nema undantekningar frá þeirri reglu verði ákveðnar í lögum um kosningar til Alþingis.
