- English(1) Members of the German Bundestag shall be elected in general, direct, free, equal and secret elections. They shall be representatives of the whole people, not bound by orders or instructions, and responsible only to their conscience.

A candidate for membership in the Senate or the person who appoints him must be an Egyptian with civil and political rights. He must have at least a university degree or equivalent, and his age must be less than thirty-five years. The law specifies the conditions of candidacy, electoral system and the division of constituencies to take into account the equitable representation of the population and the governorates. Nomination can take place through singlemember election or multi-member election, or both together. (Art. 251)

يشترط فيمن يترشح لعضوية مجلس الشيوخ أو من يعين فيه أن يكون مصرياً، متمتعاً بحقوقه المدنية والسياسية، حاصلاً على مؤهل جامعي أو ما يعادله على الأقل، وألا يقل سنه يوم فتح باب الترشح عن خمس وثلاثين سنة ميلادية. ويبين القانون شروط الترشح الأخرى، ونظام الإنتخاب، وتقسيم الدوائر الانتخابية بما يُراعى التمثيل العادل للسكان والمحافظات، ويجوز الأخذ بالنظام الإنتخابي الفردي أو المنعدد الأعضاء أو الجمع بينهما. a. is a citizen of the age of twenty-one years or upwards;
b. has resided in Antigua and Barbuda for a period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of his election; and
